Dancing on Ice result sees Matt Richardson voted out in 'unfair' exit days after joining show

Fans have hit out at 'unfair' Dancing on Ice after Matt Richardson voted out days after joining the show as a reserve.

There was a real party atmosphere on the show on Sunday as all manner of genres were covered in Dance Week but the party was over for Matt after just one live performance.

There were routines to everything from Steps' 5,6,7,8 to Swan Lake, with songs like The Killers' Somebody Told Me and Clean Bandit's Rather Be also blasting out as the couples skated into action.

There was a three way tie at the top of the Dancing on Ice leaderboard this week, with early frontrunners Joe Warren-Plant and Faye Brookes joined at the top by a surprising new contender, Lady Leshurr, who was only in the skate off two weeks ago.

Down at the bottom were newcomer Matt who came in for Rufus Hound after he quit, on 23.5 and Jason Donovan on 26.5.

But, while Jason and pro partner Alexandra managed to once again avoid danger, comedian Matt and pro Vicky Ogden had to battle it out against Colin Jackson.

Prior to finding out the result, Matt said he "never expected" to even be skating on the show. After Ashley and John both opted to save Colin, Christopher Dean too praised him for "a valiant effort," while Jayne Torvill said he "should be proud."

Matt said the show was "the most horrifying, terrifying thing," saying he was "relieved" but viewers at home said he should never have been allowed to be in the skate off in the first place.

One ranted: " #dancingOnIce how unfair was this dance off, the show is a joke based . Matt should of been given a bye," and, echoing those sentiments, another posted: "poor matt, really unfair. this series will go down in history as the most chaotic and messy my god"

Hoping Matt gets another chance, another reacted: "Think Matt should have a chance to come back next year! That was so unfair!"
