Dancing on Ice plunged into chaos for second year as Happy Monday's Bez gets covid

Dancing on Ice is facing issues due to the coronavirus pandemic for the second year running.

Celebs were forced to quit the competition last season after testing positive for covid, but Torvill and Dean claimed that this year's contestants would be much more prepared as the training has been extensive and the contestants are more familiar with the covid protocols.

However, just days after making his debut on the ice, contestant Happy Monday's Bez has tested positive for the virus.

He announced the news to the Daily Star, as he said: "I've had a positive test. I'm gutted because I'm going to be missing training but I'm looking forward to skating on the show again for Week Three and I'll be tuning in at home and cheering on my mates who are skating this weekend."

An ITV spokesperson told The Mirror : “We have stringent protocols in place to ensure the health and safety of all our contributors and staff which are routinely monitored and updated to reflect the current guidelines."

Bez has not had the best start to the show as he has already suffered a nasty fall on the ice - smashing his head so hard that his helmet flew off.

The moment was caught on camera, as the dramatic footage showed him slip and fall backwards.

As he lay, dazed, on the floor his dance partner Angela Egan rushed over to his aide.

A show source said: "It was a terrifying moment and everyone's hearts were in their mouths when he hit the ground. It goes to show how brutal this programme can be."

Dancing On Ice, Sunday at 6.30pm on ITV
