Dancing on Ice final result shocks viewers as Joe Swash beats hot favourite Perri Kiely

Some Dancing on Ice viewers have reacted angrily to the result of the final which saw Joe Swash beat hot favourite Perri Kiely to win.

There was nothing to separate Joe, Perri or fellow finalist Libby Clegg after their two skates - one a brand new routine and the second, a repeat of their favourite skate of the series - as the judges gave them all the same scores.

Joe's silent movie inspired opening number got 40 as did the reprise of his skate to Niall Horan's Nice To Meet Ya.

Perri did a backflip on his way to earning 40 with a skate to Rizzle Kicks' Skip To The Good Bit and got the same score for his series favourite skate to Senorita.

It was a full house of 10s for Libby too. Her and partner Mark got 40 for their Olympic themed routine to Gloria Estefan's Reach and the same score for their Jungle Book skate, Libby's favourite from the series.

Libby bowed out in third place after the public vote was temporarily frozen before Joe and Perri both went on to give their interpretation of Torvill and Dean's famous Bolero.

And in the end it was ex Eastenders actor Joe who triumphed, with him looking stunned as Phillip Schofield announced he and pro partner Alex Murphy had won.

And he wasn't the only one as angry Dancing on Ice fans took to Twitter to hit out at the result. One blasted: "what a crock of s***!! Perri was outstanding ...! Never watching again," and another tweeted: " recount please, unbelievable result. Respect Joe but Perri in another class. It's all about SKATING...or maybe not??"

A third reacted: "Have no idea how @perrikiely and Vanesssa didn't win. Clearly the best by a country mile - and their Bolero was sublime. So disappointed. Dancing on Ice 2020 - the final result wasn't about ability and creativity," but being more diplomatic, a less irate fan posted: "Perri was amazing but he was great week one and he didn’t really doing any overhead lifts like others. It got old quick. And joe improved so much , aside from ben ofc. Refreshing to see a journey contestant win & not the best from the start since the relaunch."
