Dancing on Ice final result sees Sonny Jay and Angela Egan win as top scorer only finishes third

The Dancing on Ice 2021 champions have been crowned and they are Sonny Jay and pro partner Angela Egan after top scorer Colin Jackson bowed out early in third place.

This year hasn't been any easy one for the ITV show, with producers battling to make it happen during a worldwide pandemic.

And coronavirus also threw a huge spanner in the work for contestants Rufus Hound and Joe Warren Plant, with both having to withdraw due to testing positive for COVID-19.

Three other celebs - Denise Van Outen, Billie Faiers and Jason Donovan - also had to quit due to injury and on Sunday night the remaining three contestants: Colin Jackson, Faye Brookes and Sonny Jay competed for viewers' votes for the final time.

It was Olympic hurdler Colin and partner Klabera who led the way with the judges in Sunday's Dancing on Ice final, getting perfect 40 for first number to Hot, Hot, Hot and then their 'skate of the series', which saw them also earn a full house of 10s for a Bodyguard themed routine, which first dazzled the panel during Movie Week.

Capital breakfast host Sonny Jay was in second on a combined score of 79.5, after getting 39.5 for his George Formby inspired skate in the first round and a full 40 for his and partner Angela's routine to Nathan Evans' Wellerman, with Sonny once again dressed as Popeye.

Just behind him on 38 were Faye Brookes and Matt Evers, who got 38/40 for their poolside set skate to Katy Perry's Teenage Dream before earning a perfect score for a reprise of Black Swan, which Faye first skated with original partner Hamish Gaman, before he had to withdraw after a freak injury.

The judges' scores weren't reflected in the public vote as Colin was called in 3rd, before both Sonny and Faye got to recreate Torvill and Dean's iconic Bolero routine, with both earning high praise from the judges.

But, there could only be one winning couple and ,after viewers' votes had been counted, that was revealed to be 'most improved' skater Sonny who took the title with Angela, with them getting to lift the trophy right before credits rolled.
