James Jordan broke down in tears as he was crowned the Dancing on Ice 2019 champion.

The former Strictly Come Dancing star battled through the final with a shoulder injury to beat Wes Nelson.

Jordan said he had to dig so hard to get through Sunday night’s show, but that he did it all for his skating partner Alexandra Schauman.

“The only reason I had to dig so much is because of that little thing there,” he said.

Schauman was hoisted into the air by the class of 2019 as Jordan handed the trophy to her.

Viewers were ecstatic to see Jordan win, with one branding him the "nicest guy" while another said he was the "best skater" throughout.

The pair received two perfect scores out of a possible three in the final – one of which was for their interpretation of Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean’s Bolero.

Jordan spent six hours in physio ahead of the show after falling onto the ice in rehearsals and badly injuring his shoulder.

Nelson narrowly missed out on being crowned the 2019 champion, despite receiving perfect 40s for all three of his routines with partner Vanessa Bauer.

Saara Aalto also earned three 40s but failed to win over the public and was voted off first.

The class of 2019 returned to the ice to skate for the final time, including Gemma Collins who was mocked for failing to skate during her routine.

Sunday night’s show also saw Torvill and Dean perform to Bridge Over Troubled Water.

Dancing on Ice will return to ITV next year.
