Dancing on Ice fans slam the show for adding Diversity's Perri Kiely to the 2020 line-up

Dancing On Ice fans have hit out at the ITV ice skating show for selecting Perri Kiely to star in the 2020 series.

The 23-year-old is best known for being part of dancing troupe Diversity alongside one of the show's judges Ashley Banjo - which viewers believe is an unfair advantage.

Following the news of Perri bagging a spot on the line-up social media users took to Twitter to share their thoughts on how the street dancer should not be allowed to take to the ice.

One angered micro-blogger wrote: "Isn’t this a conflict on interest since Ashley was in the same dance group as him yet Ashley is a judge and he’s a contestant."

Another fan claimed the performer has a similar situation to 2019 contestant James Jordan, as they typed: "this is so unfair and biased..... he is a literally a pro dancer.... just like @The_JamesJordan was.. PLUS HIS BEST FRIEND IS A JUDGE.. if this ain't a conflict of interst I don't know what is.."

"How is this right? He’s a experienced dancer and one of his best friends is on the judging panel? Not exactly fair," and "I love him but this is such a bad idea. Hes already a dancer and hes ashleys best friend," added others.

Who is joining the Dancing on Ice line-up this year?

A angered fan penned: "I don't agree with him being on the show because Ashley Banjo is a judge surely it gives him unfair advantage."

"This is such an unfair advantage to everyone else!! He’s a pro danced & his mate is a judge!!" complained another.

Other fans shared that they are looking forward to the Celebs Go Dating star giving the ice skating show a go, with one writing: "Welcome to Dancing on ice Perri, I'm so excited to see you, I've got a feeling you're going to be so good!!!"

Another gushed: "Yes !! I love him. Cannot wait !xx"

A show insider revealed to Mirror Online: "Perri has said himself he is not a classically trained dancer and has already said if anything Ashley will be tougher on him."

Perri is best known for being part of dancing troupe Diversity, which won Britain's Got Talent in 2009 and went on to tour the world.

Since then he's become something of a reality TV regular.

He won the second series of Splash! in 2014, before taking part in Celebs Go Dating in 2018.

Maura Higgins and Michael Barrymore were the first celebs confirmed to be taking part.

They were followed by former footballer and Match of the Day pundit Kevin Kilbane.

Next was ITV news reader Lucrezia Millarini.

Dancing on Ice  returns in January and will be hosted by Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.
