Dancing on Ice fans reeling as Carley Stenson axed after painful injury as Phillip Schofield drops bombshell announcement

Dancing On Ice fans saw an emotional Carley Stenson break down in tears on Sunday's episode of the ITV celeb skating contest as she was eliminated after a skate-off with The Wanted singer Siva Kaneswara. West End star and former Hollyoaks actress Carley found herself in the dreaded skate-off.

Following her energetic final routine Carley, from Wigan, revealed that she had injured herself. "How did that feel?" she was asked by presenter Phillip Schofield. And Carley, 40, admitted she was in pain.

"Electric, painful," she replied. Her pro skating partner Mark Hanretty indicated that it was her shoulder that was the problem and said it had popped out. "It's back in," a smiling Carley reassured, saying she had managed to pop it in again.

Presenter Holly Willougby told her that a medic would check on her, and later there were tears as the judges chose to send her home over Siva. An emotional Carley, who played Steph Cunningham in Channel Four soap Hollyoaks, said she had loved every minute of her Dancing on Ice experience.

"I'm going to miss this man," she said about her skating partner. Fans flocked to Twitter to say they were 'gutted' for her. @AmyJoSays tweeted: "Watching #DancingOnIce late and I'm GUTTED for Carley Stenson. I thought she was one of the best skaters (and performers) on the show. Such a shame."

During this weekend's Props Week Phillip caused shockwaves when he announced that there would be a double elimination during next week's live semi-final. Two couples will be leaving the competition instead of one, and this was the first time the contestants had been told.

"We've go some big news about the semi-final," he said. "I can reveal that next week there will be a double elimination. Not one but two couples will be leaving the competiton and that's the first time they've heard that." Clocking the stunned expression from reality star Joey Essex Phillip said: "Your face." And Joey admitted that he was "shocked."
