Dancing on Ice fans admit they've used 'all votes for Bez' as he avoids first skate off

Dancing on Ice star Bez looks like he's got the support of the great British public if his first week on the show is anything to go by.

Despite only receiving a score of 12.5 from the judging panel, the Happy Mondays star managed to avoid the first skate off thanks to getting lots of votes.

Many viewers took to Twitter during Sunday evening's show to admit that they had used all five votes for 57-year-old Bez.

"Gave all 5 votes to Bez!!! #bez #DancingOnIce," one person tweeted.

Another posted: "#DancingOnIce Bez got all 5 of my votes," while a third urged fellow Dancing on Ice fans: "Use all ya votes for BEZ #DancingOnIce."

Someone else admitted: "I did all 5 votes for #Bez #doi #dancingonice."

Another fan of the ITV show claimed: "The vote page goes straight to voting for Bez. That makes things easier - the saviour of the show #DancingOnIce has long been looking for."

Bez skated with professional partner Angela Eagan to the epic Happy Mondays track Step On - and is the first contestant to wear a crash helmet on the ice.

Upon receiving his score and some feedback from the judges, Bez admitted he didn't even think he'd get 12.5 and was pretty chuffed as his band mate Shaun Ryder cheered him on in the live audience.

Later on, when asked by hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield if he ever thought Bez would do the show, Shaun replied: "What on this show? Not in a million years! On this show, no way!"

He then added: "I believe in my bumblebee, he can win this!" as Holly and Phillip laughed.

Next week will see the remaining six couples take to the ice and one of them will face Ria Hebden and her partner Łukasz Różycki in the dreaded skate off.

Dancing on Ice continues Sunday at 6:30pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
