"We want to wish @vanouten_denise a very speedy recovery, you have been so kind to us and we wish you all the best.

"I can’t wait to show you all what we can do!"

Confirming Amy's place on the show on their own page, they wrote: " Olympic gymnast @amytinkler and her pro-skater partner @joejohnsonice will be joining the Dancing on Ice line up from this weekend after Denise Van Outen and Matt Evers have had to withdraw from the competition due to Denise’s injury."

Bishop Auckland athlete Amy was British all-around gymnastics champion in 2015 before winning bronze in the 2016 Olympics on Floor.

Given that her training for the show had been kept top secret, many people were shocked to hear Amy would soon be on the Dancing on Ice rink.

Fellow Team GB gymnast and former Strictly contestant Claudia Fragapane commented on her Instagram post to write: "Congrats mate!" while a fan reacted: "Omg amazing! Can’t wait to watch you!"
