Dancing On Ice commentator called out for 'risky' joke about Emmerdale star

Dancing On Ice's commentator has been called out for 'joke' about Emmerdale star Joe-Warren Plant.

The 13th series of the ITV skating competition kicked off last night with six of 12 new celebrities taking to the ice.

Among the first six was Emmerdale actor Joe-Warren, known for playing teenager Jacob in the soap.

It was a tricky start for the 18-year-old, who is the youngest person to ever compete in Dancing On Ice, after he suffered a fall during his routine.

He still received a respectable score of 25 making him joint top of the leader board.

However, talk has turned to Sam Matterface, the show's commentator, after he made a 'dodgy' joke which fans think related to Joe-Warren's serious Emmerdale storyline.

"If the skater is anything like the character he plays, he'll be good with female authority figures," Sam said.

And viewers took to social media to question the joke.

"'If he's anything like his character in Emmerdale he's good with female authority figures' risky comment seeing as he was groomed on Emmerdale.. #DancingOnIce," one tweeted.

Another echoed: "Err, probably should've left this bit out the script - "If he's anything like his Emmerdale character, he's pretty good with female authority figures". #DancingOnIce #DOI."

"Seriously dodgy comments about the Emmerdale child teacher abuse storyline?' He likes female authority figures. More home schooling' ' Did I just hear that? #dancingonice," a third added.

In the Emmerdale abuse storyline, character Jacob was groomed by teacher and step-dad's girlfriend Maya Stepney.

Though on the show itself, the talk was all about Joe-Warren's fall, which he smiled all the way through.

When host Holly Willoughby asked him what happened, he replied: "I couldn't tell you, I literally thought I was doing everything perfectly and I then I just ended up on the floor."

"I don't know what happened."
