Dancing On Ice 2019 winner James Jordan needs surgery on injured shoulder after bad fall

Dancing on Ice champion James Jordan has revealed he will need surgery on his shoulder after suffering an injury during the gruelling competition.

The former Strictly Come Dancing professional glided to victory with partner Alexandra Schauman on Sunday night, scoring 39, 40 and 40 for his final skates.

But hours before the live show, Jordan spent six hours with a physiotherapist after crashing down on the ice on Saturday.

Jordan has now revealed he will need to go under the knife to fix it.

“When I woke up on Sunday morning I said to producers, ‘I’m out. I’m not going to be able to perform because of my shoulder.’ I could not lift my arm,” the 40-year-old told The Sun.

“Sharon, the show’s physio, is the only reason I got to perform on the night. I said to her, ‘Do whatever you can to get me through those three dances and I’ll love you for ever’, and she did.

“Now I’m going to need surgery.”

Jordan suffered a hernia earlier in the competition, leaving him in considerable discomfort, and also has tennis elbow in his left arm, arthritis in his hips, lower back pain and stiff knees.

Jordan broke down in tears on Sunday night as Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield announced his name, beating Wes Nelson to the top spot.

He made sure to enjoy his victory, with his wife Ola posting a video of him downing a bottle of wine at the wrap party.

Dancing On Ice will return to ITV next year
