Dancing On Ice 2023 first looks sees Joey Essex ask for skater's number

Dancing On Ice 2023 is just around the corner. The first batch of celebrity contestants and their professional skating partners will take to the ice when the new series starts on Sunday, January 15.

Ahead of the launch, ITV has released a first-look clip of the cast as they take to the training rink and share their reason for doing the show. Those in the star-studded line-up include DJ Patsy Palmer, football legend John Fashanu, Love Island winner Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu, and Olympic gymnast Nile Wilson.

As well as Coronation Street’s Mollie Gallagher, Drag Queen and TV personality The Vivienne, TV personality Joey Essex, comedian Darren Harriott, actress and West End star Carley Stenson, singer Michelle Heaton and The Wanted’s Siva Kaneswaran. In the clip, reality television star Joey and his partner Vanessa Bauer can be see crashing to the ice in training before he says: "I just know that now is my time - I sound so serious, I am getting serious aren't I?"

Later, as the pair exit the training rink he is heard asking Vanessa: "How do we stay in touch, do I take your number?" She simply replies: "Yeah, of course."

Elsewhere in the first look, Patsy Palmer talked about her kids' reaction to her doing the show before telling the camera: "It's much, much harder than it looks."

John Fashanu was then seen taking on the ice for the first time as he admitted: "Out of all of the sports I have done this is the hardest ever."

Love Island's Ekin-Su said was supported by Torvill and Dean as she took a tumble in the training rink. "Performing is a new adventure for me," she said, before revealing she was most nervous to fall.

Michelle Heaton also explained in the clip that it had been a "long journey" to get here but she was "stronger than ever" and Mollie Gallagher said her mum was most excited to see her on the show. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
