Dancing On Ice 2022: Kimberly Wyatt announced as 11th star to take to the ice

Kimberly Wyatt has been confirmed as the 11th celebrity to be joining Dancing On Ice.

The Pussycat Dolls singer, 39, will be taking to the ice in January to compete in the ITV skating competition.

Speaking to Ashley Roberts on Heart Breakfast, she said: "I have signed up for Dancing on Ice! I’m nervous, that ice is going to hit hard. I’m just excited to see what I can do on there. I’m up for a challenge!"

She will be joining Coronation Street legend Sally Dynevor, Happy Mondays dancer Bez, Paralympian Stef Reid, Love Island ’s Liberty Poole, rugby star Ben Foden, Paul Gascoigne’s son, Regan Gascoigne, pop star Rachel Stevens, professional dancer Brendan Cole, presenter Ria Hebden and BMX Olympic silver medalist Kye Whyte.

It comes after Kimberly said earlier this year that Strictly bosses snubbed her because she is "too professional".

While competing in 2018, Ashley had been at the centre of a row after some fans deemed it unfair that she was in the show following her extensive dance experience.

"From any chats that I've had, Strictly feel that I’m too professional to be a contestant," Kimberly told The Sun.

"It's such a shame as I’d love to learn ballroom, my dancing experience holds me back as a contestant.”

BBC bosses were also likely persuaded that she was had too much training by her appearance as a judge on Sky1 dance competition Got to Dance from 2009 until 2014.

A year after leaving the show, Kimberly showed off her cookery talents as she went on to win Celebrity MasterChef in 2015.

Kimberly reunited with the Pussycat Dolls in 2019 - but they sparked an uproar after their raunchy performance on The X Factor: Celebrity.

It was apparently too sexy for some with the performance during a family show provoking over 500 complaints to Ofcom.

Kimberly argued the sexy outfits and sizzling routines performed by the chart topping band are "empowering" and that women should be allowed to celebrate their "space".

"It makes me sad people are so hung up on costumes," she said.

“Pussycat Dolls stand for being empowered females owning their space and being there for each other.”
