Dance preview: Savion Glover: Bare Soundz, London

Savion Glover returns to London to display his dazzling, unique spin on the traditions of tap dance. Dreadlocks flying, jeans slouched around his hips, he is the most streetwise of dancers, and also today's finest exponent of rhythm tap. As Bare Soundz, the title of his latest show, implies, Glover's version of tap is very different from the more elegant, ballroom-inspired style embodied by Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire - focusing almost exclusively on the percussive, acoustic detail of the footwork. Glover, who seems to hear the music through his feet, literally becomes one of the instruments in the band accompanying him, as his dancing amplifies the rhythms and patterns of the music. For this show, he collaborates with dancers Marshall L Davis Jr and Maurice Chestnut, the three of them together performing a history of tap dance to music that ranges from Caribbean beats through to jazz.
