Dance preivew: Tom Dale Company: Rise, Edinburgh

London-based choreographer Tom Dale takes the temperature of modern Britain. His five dance characters between them represent the dazed, blunted angst of the UK population, their goals driven by over-commercialised notions of freedom and desire, their nerves rattling from the adrenalin buzz of work, noise and stress. Fuelled by an original electronic sound score that mixes drum'n'bass with minimalist melodic lines, Dale's 2007 work promises to go deep into states of falsity edginess and claustrophobia but also finds in them images of exhilaration and beauty.
