Dance group BSD crowned Ireland's Got Talent winners

Dance group BSD were crowned Ireland’s Got Talent winners on Sunday night.

Jason Byrne’s golden buzzer act topped the public vote and took home the €50,000 prize and an hour-long special on Virgin Media TV.

After last year’s inaugural winners and fellow dance act RDC took the title, one excited band member said: “I just can’t believe what is happening, all our hard work has paid off. It’s been an amazing experience to be part of.”

In Sharyn Ward, Rebel Acro, Jake O’Shea, Fly Youth, Fionn McMorrow, Sharon and Brandon and Sea of Change BSD were up against a stellar line-up of some of the most talented singers and dancers in the country.

After eight weeks of auditions, three semi-finals, five golden buzzers and 150,000 votes, they secured their triumph with a polished hip hop performance to Confident by Demi Lovato. Bursting with pride, Jason told them: ‘You were brilliant, no gimmicks, pure dancing.”

Michelle Visage said: “You definitely levelled up from your last one, this was unbelievable.”

Louis Walsh told them: “You are so exciting to watch, and your hard work has paid off.”Denise van Outen added: “You stepped it up this is the best you have danced. I loved it.”

Ireland's Got Talent singer Julie McCabe claims it is harder for solo acts to compete for votes on show

Cork acrobats Rebel Acro kicked off proceedings for the final but their chance seemed to go when they suffered a stumble within the first few seconds of the routine.

Lucy Kennedy’s golden buzzer and wild card Sharon and Brandon gave the audience a stunning and emotional performance of I Knew You Were Waiting accompanied by The Dublin Gospel Choir. Jake O’Shea – now dubbed Jake O’Slay by Michelle – brought his fantastic mix of
traditional Irish and contemporary dance to the stage with a mash-up of B’Witched and Little Mix.

Sea Of Change got the call last night to be the second wild card of the night and it fell to Denise to make the call to her golden buzzers.

These brave ladies filled the Helix with their joyous rendition of Sisters, whipped off their dresses and had the audience on their feet.

Staying true to her roots, Longford- born Traveller owned the Helix with a magical rendition of One Starry Night.

Kildare singer Sharon Webb says incredible nine stone weight loss gave her the confidence to apply for Ireland's Got Talent

Fionn McMorrow, 10, from Sligo sailed through to the grand final after her stirring semi-final performance.

That saw the schoolgirl top the public vote and receive a standing ovation again.

She stormed the stage with a party theme to Chris Brown’s Beautiful People.

And tipping them to win, Louis told them: ‘This is the best Irish dance act I have ever seen, you are a world class, you need people to vote and vote for the winners and that’s Fly Youth.”
