Dana White's comments on how you can 'never bounce back from putting your hands on a woman,' have resurfaced days after the UFC President was involved in a New Year's Eve altercation with his wife.
Video footage captured on New Year's Eve shows White and his wife Anne in a nightclub. The clip appears to show Anne hit the 53-year-old in the face during a scuffle moments before the UFC boss seemingly slaps his wife in the face.
Since the incident, an interview Dana White gave to Fox Sports Live from 2014 has resurfaced. In the interview, the MMA promoter spoke about a video which had surfaced that appeared to show NFL player Ray Rice punching his wife in the face in an elevator.
At the time, White condemned Rice's actions, branded the video as 'horrifying' and said it was ' the most disturbing thing you will ever see.'
"'It's a tough one. First of all the video is horrifying. Absolutely horrifying," said White in 2014.
"You're talking about a guy who's been in the fight business since he was 19 years old.
"It is the most disturbing thing you will ever see.
'We've been human beings in letting these guys, other guys make up for what they've done and come back. There's one thing that you never bounce back from and that's putting your hands on a woman.
"Been that way in the UFC since we started here. You don't bounce back from putting your hands on a woman."
Since the New Year's Eve scuffle, both Dana and Anne White have spoken to TMZ. Dana White said he was 'embarrassed' by his actions, while wife Anne stated that her husband's behaviour was 'out of character.'
"My wife and I were out Saturday night on New Year's Eve,' said Dana White, "Unfortunately that is what happened.
"I am one of the guys who says there is never, ever an excuse for a guy to put his hands on a woman and now here I am on TMZ talking about it.
"This is one of those situations that is horrible. I am embarrassed. We have three kids and since the video popped up, we have shown the kids and we are more focused on our family right now.
"People are going to have their opinions on this and people's opinions would be right, especially in my case. You don't put your hands on a woman, ever."
