Dana White open to Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Georges St-Pierre if Tony Ferguson falls through

It appears Dana White is having a slight change in tone in regards to a possible superfight between UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and former welterweight and middleweight champ Georges St-Pierre.

White reiterated to TMZ Sports that Tony Ferguson is next in line for a title shot against Nurmagomedov. But should he not take it for some reason, White would be willing to move on to St-Pierre.

“Tony Ferguson is the fight that needs to happen,” White said. “We’ve tried to do it four other times, so hopefully we can get it done this time. But that’s the fight that makes sense.”

Nurmagomedov’s manager recently came out and said that his client will be fighting “GSP” next, not Ferguson or Conor McGregor. Nurmagomedov has expressed interest in fighting St-Pierre on numerous occasions, and St-Pierre has publicly talked about wanting the fight, as well. He said the fight almost came into fruition at one point, but the UFC didn’t want it.

But now it appears White may be on board, too, if the Ferguson fight falls through.

“That can happen, too,” White said. “We’ll see what happens with Tony. Tony’s had opportunities before that he didn’t take, so if he doesn’t, then I would be interested in talking about ‘GSP.'”
