Dana White: Floyd Mayweather vs. Logan Paul perfectly sums up state of boxing

UFC president Dana White thinks the matchup between Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul perfectly describes the state of boxing.

Undefeated former champion Mayweather and YouTube sensation Paul announced Sunday that they will fight each other in an exhibition bout on Feb. 20, and White couldn’t help but be critical.

Speaking to the “Nelk Boys,” White took aim at how one of the greatest boxers of all time has signed on to fight Paul, who has only one professional bout once against fellow YouTube creator “KSI.”

“When people ask me, ‘What’s the state of boxing right now?’ That’s where it’s at,” White said. “Didn’t that kid get beat up by the (expletive) video game kid from England, and now he’s going to fight Floyd Mayweather?”

Mayweather, 43, was last seen in the boxing ring when he knocked out Tenshin Nasukawa in a December 2018 exhibition in Japan. Mayweather’s last official bout was vs. former UFC two-division champion Conor McGregor in August 2017.

It’s no secret that White, who has expressed wanting to work with Mayweather this year, thinks the boxing business model is broken. For the past few years, White has talked about launching his own project, Zuffa Boxing, but nothing has come to fruition.
