Dana White confirms UFC 257 plans as Conor McGregor v Dustin Poirier set for Fight Island

Dana White has confirmed the plans for UFC 257 as Conor McGregor v Dustin Poirier is set to take place at Fight Island in Abu Dhabi.

McGregor is set to make his return to the Octagon next month, and takes on his old rival Poirier in a rematch of their 2014 bout.

With the fight officially confirmed several weeks ago, UFC president Dana White has now officially announced that the UFC 257 main event will be at Yas Island.

And the big fight will cap off a blockbuster week for the promotion, with three events planned for Fight Island that week alone.

Taking to Instagram, White announced a triple header kicking off with featherweight contenders Max Holloway and Calvin Kattar coming to blows on January 16.

Mid-week, one of the most talked about prospects in the UFC Khamzat Chimaev takes on Leon Edwards before attention switches to McGregor and Poirier.

It comes after Jake Paul claimed his recent comments on Dee Devlin were fair game because Conor McGregor previously spoke about Khabib Nurmagomedov's wife.

The YouTuber made unpleasant remarks about Devlin in a video posted online last week in which he offered McGregor $50million (€41m) to fight him.

Paul said the UFC star's fiance was "a four [out of ten]" and claimed McGregor "could do a lot better".

Defending the comments, he told TMZ: “I don’t give a f***. He (Conor McGregor) spoke on Khabib’s (Nurmagomedov) wife. He said Khabib’s wife looks like a towel.”

Paul added: "He’s getting a taste of his own medicine.

"And now all of a sudden, people are b***hurt (and saying that) I’m going too far. F*** off. This is the fight game.

"Like why are people being b****es now all of a sudden? You know, same with Dillon Danis.

"They’ve said f***ed up s*** about religion, Khabib’s religion; F*** those guys.”
