Dana White confident UFC events will return in May at their Las Vegas APEX facility

UFC president Dana White is confident he will be able to host events from next month.

While the rest of the sporting world has come to a standstill, White was determined for the UFC show to go on, finding an alternative venue for UFC 249 which was scheduled to go ahead last Saturday.

Despite his efforts, the event was cancelled days before fight night with White ordered to stand down by ESPN executives.

But he believes the promotion can start moving cards to their Las Vegas facility which is fully equipped to host fights as of next month.

"We built the APEX facility next door just in time to save the day from this pandemic," White told Variety.

"Live fights will be produced out of there starting next month and for the foreseeable future."

APEX is the UFC’s new multi-million dollar production facility which opened in 2019, serving as the host of the third season of Dana White’s Contender Series.

White has also teased the possibility of 'Fight Island' - an idea that almost became a reality for UFC 249 as he sought to move the card to a private island to bypass coronavirus lockdown restrictions.
