Despite feeling 'wobbly', a CT scan thankfully proved clear, with no blood on the brain.
But the newsreader is required to rest for a few days.
Sharing a snap of himself hooked up to blood pressure monitor, he told his Twitter following on Friday night: "Bit of head-based drama today!
"After whacking my noggin on the big glass window yesterday I got sent to A & E today because I was feeling a bit wobbly. A lovely nurse at Barnet Hospital called Karina checked my vitals and 6ft 9 Dr Erik Witt gave me a CT scan which was clear."
Dan added: "No blood on the brain but I have to rest for a few days.
"I’ll be a bit behind but back at [dancing emoji] next week.
"The NHS is amazing & I can’t tell you who my pro is but I can say she waited for hours in the car park to check I was ok. Whatever happens on TV, she has a friend for life".
His former co-star Louise Minchin, who left BBC Breakfast this week, replied: "Ouch. Sending you healing thoughts so that you get better soon. X"
Tens of others sent well-wishes to the star, hoping for a speedy recovery.
One fan said: "Make sure you rest before you get your dancing shoes back on x" while another commented on the height of the doctor, replying: "Wow, it can't be too often that you meet someone THAT much taller than you!!"
Strictly Come Dancing starts Saturday at 7.45pm on BBC One.
