Dan Walker reveals why he never shares pictures of wife Sarah on social media

Dan Walker has revealed the reason why he doesn't share pictures of his wife Sarah.

The father-of-three rarely posts snaps of his family, however they did make a brief appearance behind the scenes when Dan was on Strictly Come Dancing.

The BBC Breakfast host, 44, who made it to the quarter-finals on Strictly, is well-known for keeping his personal life private.

But he was asked during a recent Instagram Q&A why he never posts photos of his wife.

Dan replied: "Good question... because she doesn't want to be on social media. Simple as that. She's much wiser than me."

The former Football Focus presenter has been married to his childhood sweetheart for 20 years.

They met in 1999 at the University of Sheffield when Dan was studying for a Master's Degree in broadcast journalism.

The couple dated for two years before getting married in 2001 and went on to have children Susanna, Jessica and Joe.

Sarah made a rare appearance on Strictly where Dan dedicated his Viennese waltz performance to her and their children in adorable scenes.

"I'm just going to gush over her for a moment. Because she's one of those people, the more you know her the more you love her," he said.

"And I've known her and loved her for over half my life."

Dan added: "There she is, she's absolutely amazing, she's such a special person and I love her to bits. I hope she enjoyed that because we really loved it."

The presenter and his dance partner, 32-year-old Nadiya Bychkova, were knocked out of Strictly following a dance off against 33-year-old AJ Odudu and her dance partner Kai Widdrington, 26.

Dan admitted he lasted far longer in the competition than he expected – but hinted he would not have been able to go on much longer if he had managed to survive the dance off.

Speaking on BBC Breakfast, he said: “My body’s given up.

“It lasted eight weeks – a lot longer than I thought it would – but it’s been great.

“It’s an entertainment programme, isn’t it, and I told Nadiya the first day we started ‘I want you to enjoy this as much as I will and I will love every second of it’, and I have.”

Strictly pro Nadiya was in tears during the couple's final dance and paid tribute to her celebrity partner hailing him as "the right person in my life in the right time".
