Dan Walker reveals Strictly stars have quit show's WhatsApp group amid 'fix' claims

Strictly Come Dancing star Dan Walker has lifted the lid on the show's joint WhatsApp group – and revealed some stars quit right after they were booted out of the competition.

It's been claimed the eliminated celebs were 'fed up' after their time was cut short on the show.

And with just eight couples remaining in the BBC dance competition looking to lift the famous Glitterball Trophy, it's not just the dance floor where things are hotting up.

BBC Breakfast star Dan admitted the content on the messaging group 'will never see the light of day' as he vowed to remain tight-lipped about what had been discussed.

He did however share that some contestants had decided to quit their messaging group directly after they exited the show.

In recent weeks viewers have been left increasingly disgruntled by the dance-offs and eliminations.

Adam Peaty's mum even branded the show a 'fix' after her son was booted off following his jive.

While Dan refused to name the stars that have quit the messaging group, fans speculated that ex EastEnder Nina Wadia, who was fuming to be first out, and comedian Robert Webb, who left the show on health grounds, are possibly among the quitters.

Dan said: "We started off with all 15 [contestants]. Most who have left [the show] have stayed in the group."

But when asked if he could reveal who had decided to quit the group, he teased: ‘I can tell you nothing!’

Celebrities who have been sent home so far include EastEnders star Nina Wadia, Corrie and Hollyoaks star Katie McGlynn and actor Greg Wise.

Other stars to leave the competition in recent weeks include former rugby player and Question of Sport’s Ugo Monye and Olympian Adam Peaty, who was eliminated on Sunday night.

The presented added to the publication: ‘We talk about anything from jam to Jive.

"As the weeks have gone on, people talk about their injuries, painful knees, what their dance partner has tried to make them do, how exhausted they are."

Dan who is dancing with his pro-partner Nadiya Bychkova has also faced some backlash from critics saying he should have been axed by now, but he appears to have risen above it and says he has equally had huge support from fans.

Taking to Instagram, he penned: "We are incredibly thankful for all the support and it's a true privilege to be a small part of the biggest show on the telly."

"When I've watched Strictly in the past I have always liked seeing great dancers but also those who learn to love it and are working hard to improve every week. It's a TV show and not the world championships."
