Dan Quinn hosting over 200 high school coaches for clinic today

Falcons coach Dan Quinn is hosting a clinic for over 200 high school coaches today, according to a report by D. Orlando Ledbetter at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“Quinn will host more than 200 high school coaches to a one-day clinic on May 30. The focus will be on coaching techniques and developing athletes at the high school level.”

Quinn got started as a defensive line coach at William and Mary in 1994. He also put in time at VMI and Hofstra. His first coaching job in the NFL was defensive quality control for the 49ers in 2001. Quinn spent four seasons in San Francisco then moved on to coach the defensive lines of the Dolphins and Jets.

In 2009, Quinn joined the Seahawks as an assistant head coach for Pete Carroll as well as defensive line coach. After two seasons he returned to college to be the defensive coordinator and line coach for Florida. Afterwards, he returned to Seattle to serve as their defensive coordinator. The Seahawks defense peaked at that time, making two consecutive trips to the Super Bowl in 2013-2014.

Quinn’s performance in Seattle helped land him his first pro head coaching gig in Atlanta, beginning with the 2015 season. Since he was hired, Quinn’s Falcons have gone 36-28 in the regular season and 3-2 in the playoffs.

While Quinn has done relatively well at the helm, he’s probably on the hot seat heading into 2019. Anything less than 10 wins and a postseason berth could cost him his job.
