Dan Petrescu expects Celtic response as he opens up on Cluj pressure

CFR Cluj manager Dan Petrescu expects Celtic to come out firing in Thursday's Europa League match after the Hoops were humiliated in the last meeting between the two sides.

The Romanian champions secured a 4-3 win at Celtic Park in the third qualifying round of the Champions League, sending Neil Lennon 's side crashing out.

Slavia Prague got the better of Cluj in the play-off round, and the two sides were drawn against each other once again in the Europa League.

Petrescu's side got a shock win over Lazio in the opening round of fixtures, and he admits there's now pressure to advance from the group.

He told Digisport: "They (Celtic) were beaten by us and eliminated by us, so they'll definitely have an extra motivation, that much is clear.

"We've put pressure on ourselves after this win (over Lazio) and now we have to try and withstand this pressure and try to get out of the group, which is not what I envisaged at the start of the group stage."

Cluj play Gaz Metan in the Romanian league this evening, as they look to hold on to their place at the top of the table.

Celtic's other Europa League opponents are also in action this weekend, with Lazio thrashing Genoa 4-0 in Serie A this afternoon, and Rennes taking on Marseille in Ligue 1 tonight.
