Dan Patrick: The Dolphins are ‘bland’

Wednesday on the Dan Patrick Show, Dan Patrick asserted that the Miami Dolphins should “without question” go “all-in” on pursuing disgruntled Pittsburgh wide receiver Antonio Brown.

Why?

Because the Dolphins are “bland.” Patrick’s master plan to mend the Dolphins involves trading for the enigmatic Antonio Brown and also making sure the team drafts Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Somewhere, upon hearing this suggestion, Mike Tannenbaum just suffered heat flashes.

Patrick’s assertion that the Dolphins don’t have any premier faces of their franchise is correct, at least on the national scale. Miami’s elder-statesmen and household names include the always under-appreciated Cameron Wake and long-time veteran Frank Gore, neither of which are even under contract for 2019.

“It is one thing to be bad,” said Patrick on Wednesday’s show, “but the Dolphins are bland. And if you bring in Kyler Murray and Antonio Brown I’m watching your games. Now you’ve got a buzz. You want to be relevant.”

You do. But the Dolphins also want to be good. And after years and years of making aggressive and expensive moves, Miami appears to finally be in a position to set themselves up for long-term success by doing the opposite of what Patrick is suggesting.

And unfortunately, that involves being bland. At least for a little while longer, anyway.
