ESPN NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky has become something of a go-to voice when it comes to quarterback analysis, so his recent take on Nick Foles should have Bears fans pretty excited.
“Simply put, what Nick Foles does for the Chicago Bears offense is play in rhythm,” Orlovsky tweeted on Monday. “More often than not—the ball goes where it’s supposed to when it’s supposed to. Not much can fool him. If he values the ball I’m just telling ya the bears can play with anyone because of their defense.”
The ball going where it’s supposed to, when it’s supposed to, isn’t something coach Matt Nagy is used to seeing after more than two seasons with Mitch Trubisky as his starting quarterback. Even with his underwhelming physical skill set, Foles is bringing a new level of respect to the Bears’ passing game.
Foles has appeared in four games this season, starting three, and is completing 62.5% of his passes for 878 yards, six touchdowns, and four interceptions. His stats aren’t very impressive, but his command of the offense and composure throughout every game is.
“Would you rather lose pretty or win ugly?” Foles said after Chicago’s Week 6 victory over the Panthers. “I think that we’d rather win ugly.”
Bears fans agree. And according to Orlovsky, there are a lot more wins coming to Chicago if Foles keeps playing the way he is.
