Dan Meis reacts to Everton new stadium update with four-word response

Architect Dan Meis has reacted to the latest update from Everton about the building of the club’s new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

The stadium will have a 52,888 capacity and is the result of a five-year-long pledge by owner Farhad Moshiri to move the club on from Goodison Park.

Meis Architects became involved in Everton’s stadium project back in 2016, before his designs for the riverside Bramley-Moore Dock stadium were released in July 2019 .

Though he is no longer involved in the project, the American architect remains emotionally invested in the plans as he took to social media to discuss the latest footage of the site.

He said: “Bluenami in the works!”, quote tweeting an aerial video from Everton of the Bramley-Moore Dock, outlining the ongoing developments.

Having been responsible for the stadium’s design, before confirming his departure in June 2020 , the footage showed the vision that Meis had for the site.

A voiceover explained how work had begun displacing the water in the dock to be replaced by almost half a million cubic metres of sand from the Liverpool Bay and Irish Sea, in a process that will take between three and four months.

Full of impressive aerial shots from all four sides of the dock, the video, which was released last week, helps give a real sense of the views that Blues can expect to experience from the stands.

The club also recently confirmed that all marine life and birds from within Bramley-Moore Dock have been removed and re-homed, while also highlighting that the site’s non-listed buildings have all been demolished.

It is hoped that Everton could be ready to play in their new stadium for the 2024/25 season, with a detailed construction plan already in place.
