Dan Lawrence ruled out of England's second Test against Pakistan due to family bereavement

Uncapped Essex batsman Dan Lawrence has left England's bio-secure bubble due to a family bereavement, ruling him out of the second Test against Pakistan at the Ageas Bowl.

Lawrence, one of the reserves in the England squad, becomes the second player in as many days to leave the bubble for family reasons after Ben Stokes, who is heading to New Zealand to be with his family.

Stokes' father Ged is unwell.

Lawrence, 23, had an outside chance of coming into the England XI for Thursday’s second Test, but Stokes’ place was always more likely to go to Kent batsman Zak Crawley.

There are likely to be changes to the bowling attack too, with Sam Curran favourite to come into the side.

England will not be calling up a replacement for Stokes or Lawrence, with reserves James Bracey and Ben Foakes providing batting cover beyond Crawley.
