Dan James vows to take Wales form back to Man Utd after slow start to the season

Dan James aims to take his impressive Wales form back to Manchester United after vowing to fight for his Old Trafford place.

The flier, 23, has been limited to just three Premier League starts this term as 14th-placed United have started in rocky fashion.

It has seen boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer cop flak from fans and James has got some too.

But the star, signed from Swansea in June 2019 for £15million, insists he won’t shirk away from the challenges at United after a stunning goal and an assist in Wales' 3-1 win over Finland.

“I wouldn’t say it’s a release,” insisted James, when quizzed if international duty was a welcome distraction.

“Manchester United is my club and I love it there, whether I am playing or not, I’m proud, as proud as I am to play for Wales.

“There are obviously times where I played a lot last season, I may not have played as much this season but I am sticking in there and always in and around it.

“I feel really good at the moment. When I do play, I give my all.

“I bought into everything we wanted to do with Wales and thankfully I got that goal and assist.”

James’ strike was his third for Wales in 17 caps as he rifled a rising right-foot shot into the top corner from the edge of the box.

He also later assisted Kieffer Moore’s clincher with a left-foot cross to the far post for the target man to head in as Wales finished top of Group B4.

James admitted: “It helped a lot I had less time to have a shot and I have just instantly hit it and thankfully it has gone in the top corner.

“I think from the celebrations, we were very happy for it to hit the back of the net.”
