Dan Ige believes he’s on verge of top 15 in UFC rankings

LAS VEGAS – Dan Ige has been on quite a run in the featherweight division, and he believes he’s on the brink of hitting the rankings.

Speaking to MMA Junkie, Ige said he’s been itching to get back in the cage, but most featherweights have already been booked.

“I kinda feel like I’m on the verge, almost to the top 15,” Ige said. “I have four wins in a row, just trying to keep going all the way to the top. But, like you said, a lot of featherweights are getting booked. I kind’ve been focusing, hoping to get a fight in October, November, still haven’t really heard anything yet. I know they have most of the guys penciled in for the rest of the year, and there’s a few names out there, guys that are not matched up, and I was hoping maybe we can get matched up, but we’ll see what happens.”

Ige (12-2 MMA, 4-1 UFC) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Kevin Aguilar at UFC on ESPN+ 12. He went back and forth briefly with Bryce Mitchell, but the fight did not end up coming into fruition. Mitchell was booked to face Matt Sayles at UFC on ESPN 6, and Ige is yet to be scheduled for a fight.

He’s hoping to squeeze one more in, right before the end of the year.

“My goal is to, and I really hope I do, but it’s a possibility I might fight in January, early January, but I would love to get one more fight before the end of the year,” Ige said.
