Dan Crenshaw appears on SNL to accept Pete Davidson's apology and mock him back

Pete Davidson caused controversy on last week's Saturday Night Liveafter mocking a Republican politician who lost an eye in Afghanistan during an IED blast.

Rather than simply apologise, American Navy veteran Dan Crenshaw was invited onto the show, appearing alongside Davidson during the weekend update segment.

The SNL member began alone on stage, apologising profusely and adding: "For one day, Republicans and Democrats agreed on one thing: I'm a dick."

Crenshaw himself then appeared, saying "Apology accepted." However, after a few seconds, Crenshaw's phone started ringing, with the song "Breathin'" by Ariana Grande playing out - Davidson and Grande, who were engaged, recently split up.

"I'm just going to let it keep ringing," Crenshaw joked, adding: "Oh, do you know her?"

The segment saw Crenshaw go on to mock photos of Davidson - as Davidson had mocked photos of him the week before - joking that: "He looks like if the meth from Breaking Bad was a person."

The veteran then implored on all Americans to commemorate those who fought for the country on Veterans' Day, telling viewers to "never forget." Watch the segment below.

Also on Saturday Night Live, Robert De Nero appeared on the show as Robert Mueller to say goodbye to Jeff Sessions. Watch the sketch here.
