I’m sure you thought of it. I know I did: There’s got to be a joke about the Detroit Lions drafting Iowa linebacker Jack Campbell when their coach is named Dan Campbell. A silly dad joke, but a joke nonetheless.
Well, Campbell — Dan, not Jack — went ahead and did it. And it was the first thing he said to Campbell — Jack, not Dan — when the franchise selected him on Thursday night.
“Hey, man. I love your last name,” Dan said on the phone. Laughs all around.
Just a reminder that Dan Campbell might be one of the funniest, most quote-worthy coaches in all of sports.
