Dan Biggar's team-mates go wild as video shows moment he was told Lions news in front of entire squad

This was the moment Dan Biggar discovered he had been selected for the 2021 British and Irish Lions tour.

The news was delivered at the end of Northampton Saints training, with coach Chris Boyd the man to make the announcement in front of the entire squad.

And the players went wild as it was confirmed Biggar, and then Courtney Lawes, had both been selected.

Biggar now looks in pole position for the Lions Test jersey after a strong Six Nations. Ireland skipper Johnny Sexton was a big name omission, with Finn Russell and Owen Farrell the other two options available to Warren Gatland.

Lawes got the nod despite recent fitness issues, with a large contingent of versatile locks named at the expense of the likes of Josh Navidi and Sam Underhill.

Ahead of the announcement, Biggar had said: “I am really not nervous actually.

“I would be gutted if I wasn’t named.

“But also it wouldn’t really affect my day-to-day life.

“It’s a long time away from home as well, so I would get to spend more time with my family.

“While I would be gutted, I wouldn’t look at it as being the end of the world.”
