Dan Biggar is entitled to say and do what he wants, as are his critics

Dan Biggar was pretty high up on the agenda on the Welsh Rugby Podcast this weekend.

After criticism of the fly-half from former Wales wing JJ Williams dominated the headlines in the week prior to Wales' World Cup warm-up match against England, Biggar offered the perfect response with a man of the match performances in a 13-6 win.

And the 29-year-old wasn't done there - thanking Williams in a post-match interview for providing him with the needed motivation.

Wales coach Warren Gatland also got in on the act - questioning how much the opinion of someone who played "50 years ago" really matters.

And with all that happening, there was certainly plenty for our boys to discuss on the podcast.

Here's what Simon Thomas had to say...

Dan Biggar controlled the game. It was a typical Biggar performance.

He brought control with his tactical kicking which was a big part of Wales' success.

We had the perfect double act with Biggar and Gareth Anscombe.

Dan is there as the number 10 now and he did what he has done for Wales for a number of years - he tested teams with his kick-chase. He played a big part in the try.

Listen to the full podcast below...

What you also saw from him was his bravery and resilience which is a big part of his character. He's the ultimate competitor.

And I'm sure he would have enjoyed responding to certain comments made in the week.

The key thing is he performed in the jersey today. Dan is a strong character and it will spur him on to better performances.

Here's what Andy Howell had to say...

It's up to Dan what he says. Just like JJ Williams has a right to say what he thinks.

I'm a little surprised about Gatland responding to JJ.

Williams is entitled to his opinions. Maybe he took it a little bit too far, but maybe that's the reason they've been playing Anscombe ahead of Biggar.

Maybe Gatland thought Wales needed a bit more in attack to have more chance of winning the World Cup.

Biggar said JJ's comments motivated him, but I don't think he needs any more motivation.

Given the run Wales have been on, we should be backing Dan Biggar to the hilt.
