Dan Biggar hands Wales autumn injury scare after being forced out of Northampton defeat to Sale

Wales boss Wayne Pivac has been handed an autumn injury scare after Dan Biggar was forced off during Northampton's English Premiership defeat against Sale.

The first choice Welsh No.10 had an ice pack put on his left thigh after limping out of the action in the 60th minute.

He had just converted a try by Alex Mitchell during Northampton's 34-14 home defeat to the Sharks.

Pivac is due to name his squad for the autumn campaign in the coming days and will be anxiously awaiting the medical bulletin on Biggar from his English club.

England boss Eddie Jones will also be a worried man after Courtney Lawes and Manu Tuilagi had to leave the field injured as well.

Pivac is already without Gareth Anscombe for the autumn campaign, which sees Wales play a warn-up with France, a Six Nations clash with Scotland and four Autumn Nations Cup matches. Two of those will be against England and Ireland after they were drawn in the same group as Wales.

But the Welsh coach could be handed a boost with Scarlets playmaker Rhys Patchell in contention for a return to action against Munster this weekend.

Patchell has not played any rugby since last year's World Cup.
