Dan Biggar calls out Wales legend JJ Williams during live TV interview in wake of criticism

Wales outside-half Dan Biggar called out legend JJ Williams during a live TV interview in the wake of Wales' 13-6 victory over England.

Biggar produced an outstanding display to take the man of the match award just days after Williams had called for him to be axed from the team and claimed Wales had no hope of winning the World Cup with Biggar in the 10 jersey.

And the player hit back just moments after the final whistle during an interview with Channel Four, pointedly saying: "A special thanks to JJ Williams for all his comments last week," before sarcastically adding: "It has been really motivating and supporting for the team."

He added: "We probably didn't front up enough last week and it was a huge effort today. We're delighted to get the win, it was just a huge defensive effort. We're really pleased to get over the line as we have done so many times before.

"The forwards were brilliant. To front up as we did and keep a world class team like England try-less is really special."

Legend Williams ruffled feathers in an initial article in the Telegraph last week before doubling down on his view Jarrod Evans should now be picked ahead of Biggar in the wake of Gareth Anscombe's injury during an interview with the BBC.

He said: "If we start with Biggar, we will go back to where we were 12 months ago and we don't want that.

"You know what you're going to get with Biggar. He will take you so far, but you're not going to win the World Cup with him.

"He can come on for the last half-hour if needs be, but I'd give Jarrod a go. We tried to develop our game with Anscombe, but Jarrod must be the way forward."

Wales' victory saw them become the number one ranked team in the world.
