Damon Harrison tells NFL Network ‘I’ll be there’ for Lions training camp

Some good news on the Lions personnel front: Standout defensive tackle Damon Harrison has indicated he plans on reporting on time and participating in Detroit’s training camp.

Snacks told Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, “I’ll be there!” when the reporter asked him about his status with the team and any potential holdout.

Harrison is seeking a new contract from the Lions. He is due $9.5 million in salary in 2019 but has no guaranteed money in the remaining two years of his contract, which he signed with the New York Giants. The Giants traded him in part because they refused to give him any renegotiation of the deal. “Snacks” has not participated in any of the offseason workouts or the mandatory minicamp.

Harrison made a huge impact after arriving midseason in a trade. The Lions run defense went from one of the worst to a top-three unit overnight, and he also quietly recorded a career-high with 3.5 sacks.

His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, recently met with the Lions to try and work out a resolution for Harrison’s discontent. While nothing has been made public, it’s a good sign that Harrison will not hold out.
