Damon Harrison skips Lions’ voluntary workout

Standout defensive tackle Damon “Snacks” Harrison is not in Allen Park this week for the first session of voluntary workouts.

While the sessions are voluntary and do not involve any coaching interaction (it’s prevented by rule), some have taken this as a sign that Harrison is disgruntled with his contract and wants an extension. The big man is due just over $16 million in the final two seasons of the contract he signed as a member of the New York Giants. None of his base salary is guaranteed, however.

Harrison has remained mum on his absence, and his contract situation for the matter. Skipping voluntary activities is no real cause for concern. This becomes a story if and when Harrison decides to go public with demands for a new deal or misses any of the mandatory minicamps in early June.
