"Damn good" Logan Paul praised for WWE debut after teaming up with Rey Mysterio

Logan Paul defied any doubters over his WWE debut by putting on an impressive showing at Wrestlemania 38 on Saturday night.

Paul, 27, teamed up with The Miz to take on Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik on wrestling's biggest stage, and looked anything but overawed as he fulfilled his pre-show promise to fly off the top rope. The YouTuber was also able to celebrate a win after Miz pinned Rey following his trademark 'skull crushing finale'.

The joy was short-lived however, with the former WWE champion then turning on Paul, again using his signature move before shooting out the ring and blowing a kiss at the YouTuber. It went down well with the 77,000 plus crowd, who had booed Paul throughout as he played up to his role as a heel.

And afterwards, the influencer cut an intriguing promo backstage, labelling The Miz "jealous" in a rant laden with expletives. The dispute has now seemingly paved the way for a storyline feud between the pair.

Judging by the reaction to his display, it's a scenario the WWE universe would be keen to embrace, with fans keen to praise the influencer on social media. @realadamwalls wrote: "Wait Logan Paul is a damm good wrestler."

@ed_mcintyre98 added: "Hard to believe that this is Logan Paul’s first wrestling match. Hate to say it but he looks great!" while @jimmyyadig added: "Logan Paul has a future in wrestling. He is good."

Paul gave an explosive interview backstage (YouTube/"HANDLE")

The cagesideseats.com writer, Geno Mrosko, said of Paul's backstage interview: "Incredible stuff. He’ll probably get a talking to about it, but this is fantastic."

'The Maverick' prepared for the show by partaking in training sessions with former star Hurricane Helms at the Performance Centre in Orlando. Indeed, the former cruiserweight champion had described him as "super easy" to work with ahead of his debut.

“Training Logan Paul has been one of the easiest celebrity trainings I've ever done," he said. “He's a natural athlete, he's got natural charisma, a natural personality. It's just a matter of feeding him a little bit of information and he processes it. It's been super easy.”

During his match with the Mysterios, Paul executed a frog splash off the top turnbuckle, in a manner that resembled Eddie Guerrero. He even mimicked the late legend's 'three amigos' strut afterwards.

Other highlights on night one of Wrestlemania saw Stone Cold Steve Austin make an emotional return to beat Kevin Owens in a no holds barred match. Bianca Belair also took the Raw women's title off Becky Lynch.

Sunday night sees Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar clash in the main event at the AT&T Stadium in Texas, with both their world titles on the line in the ultimate unification bout.
