Damion Willis gets a new number after making Bengals roster

Damion Willis, the undrafted wide receiver starting in place of A.J. Green to start the regular season, is through to the Cincinnati Bengals final roster.

And he’s taking a new number with him.

Willis rocked the No. 9 during summer camp and preseason play, where he put on a show for a new coaching staff and won not just a roster spot, but a starting gig.

Looking at the team’s roster, Willis will now wear No. 15.

Talk about full circle. That’s the number John Ross wore to start his Bengals career before making the switch to No. 11 this offseason. Ross did that for personal reasons.

That paves the way for Willis, who now gets to wear the same number he donned during his days at Troy. When the Bengals line up Week 1 in Seattle, a new No. 15 will be on the field and those old Ross jerseys aren’t entirely a waste.
