After England's shaky start to Euro 2020, Damien Duff can't understand why punters fancy the misfiring side to win the competition.
Gareth Southgate's side were held to a 0-0 draw against Scotland at Wembley last night, with several of their top stars failing to make an impression at the tournament thus far.
The result leaves the Three Lions needing a win against the Czech Republic to top their group and progress to the knockout rounds.
And despite picking up a win last Sunday in their opening game against Croatia, it came in unconvincing fashion as the pre-tournament joint favourites struggle to find the winning formula.
And speaking on RTE's coverage of the Scottish draw, ex-Ireland star Duff says he doesn't see the hype around England as he criticised a Southgate substitution and pondered whether the pressure was affecting players.
He said: "They take (Harry) Kane off and leave [Dominic] Calvert-Lewin on the bench... like, Marcus Rashford, top player but plays off the side [of a front three] for Man United.
"Whether it's the pressure from the fans or pressure from the media, I don't know," Duff added. "Punters were on them tonight. They were on them after 30 minutes against Croatia... I don’t see it [with England], I don’t."
And Duff's punditry partner Liam Brady agreed as the pair dissected the stalemate, with the former Arsenal scout noting that star man Harry Kane looked visibly fatigued.
Brady said: "The three superstars they supposedly have up front, Phil Foden, Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane didn’t show up... Kane looks tired.
"Southgate will cling onto the fact that they have 4 points and could still qualify as group winners".
