Damian Lillard was so classy talking about his love for his teammates after dropping 71 points

Damian Lillard just had one of the best and most efficient 71-point games in NBA history. Truly, only Kobe Bryant and Wilt Chamberlain could ever match the brilliance of what the Portland Trail Blazers star achieved on Sunday night.

But after making history and helping Portland to a vital 131-114 win as it seeks a spot in the Western Conference play-in tournament, Lillard wanted to talk about other things.

Specifically, how much he loves his team and his Blazers teammates.

It’s not often you see a guy score over 70 points and immediately discuss his appreciation for his team. But Lillard is someone who seemingly just cherishes the nuances of playing NBA basketball above all:

Watching that little segment, it’s clear Lillard isn’t talking up his team to talk them up, either. The level of detail makes it apparent that playing with the other Trail Blazers takes priority for the superstar before any individual accomplishments.

Perhaps that commitment to his team is what makes Lillard so special.
