Damian Lillard says he and Russell Westbrook never hated each other

One of the biggest stories of this past postseason was the on-court battles between Russell Westbrook and Trailblazers point guard Damian Lillard — two No. 0 wearing California kids battling it out in high-stakes basketball games.

While the whole series was dramatic, the way in which the series ended was maybe the most dramatic moment of the entire playoffs. Lillard was able to finish off a 50-point night with a game-winning 3-pointer from about 30 feet out over the outstretched arms of Paul George to move Portland to the second round of the playoffs.

On the court, Westbrook and Lillard went at each other at every chance they got, with many confusing their competitive nature for actual hatred, which isn’t true according to Lillard.

Back in April, after the season ended, Lillard did say that he and Westbrook were cool off the court, but understands that they’re both trying to kill each other when the ball goes up.
