The NBA’s Orlando Bubble has seen the arrival of a handful of breakout stars. During the Miami Heat’s impressive run to the NBA Finals, second-year guard Duncan Robinson burst onto the scene.
During the seeding round of games at Disney World, the Michigan Wolverines product was averaging 15.0 points on 50.0% shooting from the field with 2.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per contest. Heading into the postseason, Robinson kept his steady shot rolling.
As the Heat were crowned champions of the Eastern Conference, Robinson tallied 11.7 points on 42.8% shooting from the floor with 2.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists. Robinson showed off his silky jumper in the playoffs, shooting 39.7 % from beyond the arc on 7.4 rebounds per game. In 21 postseason games, Robinson splashed 62 total 3-pointers.
With Robinson’s breakout play, the sharpshooting wing is getting a wave of attention on social media. On Twitter, Micah Phoenix (@Blaze_4real) called Robinson a better catch-and-shoot player than Klay Thompson. Following Phoenix’s bold claim, Damian Lillard chimed in on Twitter.

While Robinson deserves credit for his performance in the Orlando Bubble, declaring he’s better than Thompson in a shooting category after one season feels like a reach.
Along with earning three championships and five trips to the All-Star game, Thompson has shot over 40 % from the 3-point line in every year of his eight-season career. Thompson has eclipsed 60 or more 3-pointers in the postseason three different times in his career. In Golden State’s 2015-16 campaign, the Splash Brother buried a playoff career-high 98 long-distance jumpers.
While the numbers are telling on their own, Thompson will have the chance to remind everyone of his shooting arsenal next season when he makes his highly-anticipated return to the court from injury.
