Damian Lillard on Paul George: ‘If they keep this up, he’s MVP’

The candidacy for Paul George as MVP of the NBA just picked up a couple of new endorsements after recording a 47-point triple-double in a 120-111 win over the Portland Trail Blazers Monday night.

Those two endorsements are from two Trail Blazers players.

Trail Blazers guards Damian Lillard and Evan Turner were each very complimentary of George after the game Monday night, with each naming George the MVP of the NBA.

George recorded 47 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists against the Trail Blazers for his third career triple-double, joining Russell Westbrook as the only two teammates in Thunder history to record a triple-double in the same game.

The performance by George also marked the first time in his career recording at least 45 points in consecutive games after scoring 45 points against the Houston Rockets Saturday night.

Overall, the game on Monday was a historic one with Westbrook setting the all-time record for consecutive triple-doubles and the outing by George only added to the significance of the evening.

The win by Oklahoma City proved to be a rather meaningful one as the team now holds the tiebreaker over Portland after winning the season series with one more game left to be played.

The MVP race figures to be down to George, James Harden and Giannis Antetokounmpo now as the competition for George to win the award will be fierce the rest of the way.

But, there is still time for George to make his case.
