Damian Lillard is still talking about his Game 5 shot against the Thunder

It feels like the first round of the 2019 NBA Playoffs ended so long ago. The Thunder team Oklahoma City fans are going to see at the start of next season won’t even bear comparison to the 2018-19 squad. Paul George left. The Russell Westbrook era is over. Jerami Grant got traded, too.

While it’s easy to dwell on what was and could have been, the prospect of a rebuild does invite some level of excitement about the unknown future. Acquiring a player like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander can help with the process, too.

But Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard refuses to let Thunder fans heal completely. He has to remind Oklahoma City he helped put a punctuation mark on the Westbrook-George partnership, addressing his series-ending shot in a recent appearance on Sports Business Radio.

What can I say? That was for Seattle.

For those who don’t remember, the Seattle SuperSonics became the Oklahoma City Thunder following the 2007-08 season.
