Damian Lillard fires back at Russell Westbrook after Game 5 dagger

Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard delivered the dagger of all daggers on Tuesday night when he fired up a shot from the logo to beat the buzzer and eliminate the Oklahoma City Thunder, 118-115.

After Lillard dropped the dagger to win the series, the Blazers’ social media team had fun at Russell Westbrook’s expense as the war of words between Lillard and Westbrook spilled onto social media.

In a series that saw All-Stars Lillard and Westbrook jawing at each other throughout, it was Lillard who got the last laugh after sending the Thunder home.

Afterward, he delivered one last shot to Westbrook.

Earlier this season, Westbrook infamously was seen yelling at Lillard during a game that he had been busting him up for years, referring to the division rivalry between the two teams.

Lillard, in 27 career games against the Thunder, is averaging 22.8 points. And in this playoff series, he averaged a ridiculous 33 points with six assists. He also shot a white-hot 48.1 percent from deep in the series.

In the end, it’s Westbrook and the Thunder who will have to do some soul searching this offseason after losing in the first round for the third straight season.
