Damian Lewis announces debut album after confirming romance with rocker Alison Mosshart

Damian Lewis revealed he is releasing a debut album, after confirming his romance with rocker Alison Mosshart.

The Band of Brothers actor, 51, will be swapping film sets for concert halls as he will play a warm-up show at London's Omeara venue on 4 August.

Damian will then perform at Wilderness Festival in Oxfordshire on 7 August. His debut album will be released in 2023.

The career change marks a poignant moment for Damian, who tragically lost his beloved wife Helen McCrory in April of last year to breast cancer. She was aged just 52.

This week, Damian went public with his romance with American singer-songwriter Alison, 43, who appears to have inspired him to get behind the microphone.

Damian explained: "I'm looking forward to getting out there and playing the songs I've written and been recording for my debut album.

"Be good to be back on stage, this time with a guitar in my hand."

The actor, who played in Homeland, played the classical guitar since he was 13 years old.

When he was in his early 20s, the star busked around London and even made music as a hobby while he was acting.

A statement read: “Meeting with various London-based musicians, including Giacomo Smith, Lewis wrote songs and found himself in the recording studio cutting the tracks that will be released on his as-yet-untitled debut album in the New Year.”

Damian and Alison cosied up together at a private members' club summer party this week.

The actor and Alison were pictured at many outings over the past couple of weeks, and even put on a close display during The House of KOKO's summer event.

They beamed for the camera and appeared relaxed, with Alison's wrapping her arm around Damian's shoulder, as she leaned into him.

Alison's mum previously gave her nod of approval over their romance, telling Mail Online : "They have mutual friends. I don't know exactly how they met but I'm fine with it."

Damian was left devastated when he lost his wife Helen last year, with the actor revealing the Peaky Blinders star had joked to their children for "daddy to have lots of girlfriends" and that he must love again before she died.

Back in January, Damian paid a heartbreaking tribute to his wife while on stage at the National Theatre in London.

The Billions star dedicated the poetry performance to the memory of Helen, and was visibly emotional as he spoke about the Peaky Blinders star.

“This evening is dedicated to her and it's perfect, because Helen loved the National Theatre,” Damian told the star-studded audience.

“One person whose thunder would absolutely not be stolen was Helen McCrory.”

It marked the first time that Damian had spoken about his wife since her death, and at the end of the poetry performance, a recording of Helen reading Wild Geese by Mary Oliver from last year’s event was shown.

Tickets for his show at Omeara are on sale now here.
